At 23 Spas and his Dance Partner Anna came to the US from Bulgaria. They had big dreams and monumental challenges. Not knowing the language, leaving family and friends behind and having to learn the ways of the dance world in the West put untold stress on this couple. In fact Spas tells the story of Anna sitting across from him at their tiny table, tears streaming down her face in loneliness as she reached for him and pleaded, “Will you dance with me?”

It was at this turning point that Anna left to return to Bulgaria and Spas dug in with his fierce strength of character and decided to stay. His professional progress has focused in southern Florida where he teaches in two studios. He is a familiar face in the Ballroom competitive arena.

Spas has been dancing since the age of 13. When he wanted to be with the girls—he switched from competitive swimming to dancing. It was a love affair with dance that put him on the professional track. He has the style and technique of a winner and an ability to motivate his students. That is why he was chosen to train, lead, and groom the Hollywood Fantasy ballroom dancers on their way to the Hollywood Dancesport Championships the first week of November in Hollywood, CA.
